Based in Colorado Springs, anchored by Spencer Wren (guitar, vocals) and Joy Maples (bass, vocals), Manitou Strings is a unique ensemble rooted in traditional music, yet wildly free to explore the genre's boundaries. The band achieves a beautiful balance between melody and harmony singing, with each member bringing strong vocals to the ensemble. The current line up includes acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, violin, upright bass and the occasional shaker and other percussion instruments. We can perform as a duo (Spencer and Joy); trio (add Bobbie), or full band.

Manitou Strings' live shows are energetic, playful, and sure to get people on the dance floor. Manitou Strings has played a variety of venues in and around the Springs including Jack Quinns, Trails End Taproom, Birdcall, Speed Trap, and Armadillo Ranch. We have played for events ranging from Wilderness Workshop's annual meeting in Carbondale, to KLEF's Jazz Station's fifth birthday party; private parties, block parties, art shows, even the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We add a great sound track to your function.
